Do you have students that you know who are interested in learning how to improvise on their instrument? Maybe you know a student who really wants to learn improvisation, but there's just not enough time as a teacher during the school year or class to spend time doing this. Or maybe you know a student who is currently breaking-through into a new level of playing ability and they need a place to play and practice what they are learning..... In the fifth year of existence, the Austin Jazz Project may be the perfect fit for your students! This week-long camp hosted at LBJ High School on June 16-20 will give students an opportunity to learn from professional musicians and educators in a very supportive environment and it will give them several opportunities each day to play for their peers and for the instructors. Well-known jazz songs will be taught throughout the camp. On the last day of the camp students will perform for friends and family in the Final Concert. The Austin Jazz Project is taught by local Austin teacher/musicians who have a strong commitment to teaching improvisation, to making it fun and to helping students discover and sort through the creative process. We'd be delighted to work with your student this summer! |
